Dean Halbakken

Dean Halbakken, 75, of Llano died Sept. 22, 2011. He was born in West Port Village, Minn., on July 3, 1936, to Oscar and Eunice (Nelson) Halbakken.
He married Mary (Najar) Moore on Jan. 1, 1996, in Llano. He fought in the Korean War while serving in the Army from 1959 to 1965.
He was a resident of Llano for 30 years, a charter member of the Knights of Columbus and an active member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church. He also enjoyed traveling.
Survivors include his wife Mary Moore of Llano; sons Roger Dean Halbakken and wife Lavana of Henderson, Nev., and Rodney Dean Halbakken of Poulsbo, Wash.; daughter Rachael Dena Peart and husband Chris of Puyallup, Wash.; granddaughter Amanda Lee Halbakken; and Jim Moore and family and Kathy and Joe Jackson and family.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother; and four sisters.
A rosary will be recited 7 p.m. Sept. 23 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Llano. A memorial Mass will be celebrated 1 p.m. Sept. 24 at the church with the Rev. Melvin Dornak officiating.
