Lady Mustangs lose quick match to Cedar Park
MARBLE FALLS — In 75 minutes, the match was over. And the Cedar Park High School volleyball team had accomplished its mission.
Days after falling to Leander Rouse, the Lady Wolves, who were picked to finish as District 25-4A’s runners-up, won 25-15, 25-14, 25-10 against Marble Falls (15-12, 1-2).
“They had to re-establish themselves in the district,” Lady Mustangs head coach Julie Downs said. “Rouse wasn’t picked to finish in the top four.”
Cedar Park raced to a 0-3 lead in the opening set and committed a tipping error to get Marble Falls on the board.
When trailing 1-6, Downs called for a timeout, which was justified when junior outside hitter Kiara Etheridge recorded a kill. But then the Lady Wolves went on an 8-0 run that ended when they committed a service error. The first game ended on a kill.
