GRANITE SHOALS — Marble Falls High School sophomore angler Hunter McNeese was crowned the tournament champion Sept. 10 when the Mustangs competed in their first tournament of the season at Lake LBJ.

McNeese, who is in his second year as a member, had a total weigh-in of 7 1/2 pounds for three fish. Teammate Austin Ellis, also a sophomore, also had a weigh-in number of 7 1/2 pounds. But McNeese won the tiebreaker with a big bass of 4 pounds and 12 ounces.

“I went out there thinking I’d catch a few fish,” he said. “But within five minutes, I caught my first fish and five minutes later I caught another fish. I like all my teammates, I like everything the club provides.”
