Drought-dried field moves Flames home opener to Pony Stadium
MARBLE FALLS — The lack of rain has forced the Faith Academy football team to move its Sept. 2 home opener against Kingwood Northeast to Pony Stadium on the Marble Falls Middle School campus, 1511 Pony Circle Drive.
The game kick offs at 7:30 p.m.
This will mark the second game the Flames (1-0) will play at the venue. Last season, Faith defeated Fredericksburg Heritage there 65-63 because torrential rains from Tropical Storm Hermine drenched the Faith field, nicknamed The Hibachi by head coach Russ Roberts.
“Marble Falls ISD has been very gracious to us once again in allowing us to schedule Friday night games there,” athletic director John Berkman said.
Berkman met with Allen Roberts, Marble Falls Independent School District assistant superintendent Aug. 30. Faith will be paying a fee for use of the field, though Berkman declined to state the cost.
The athletic director said the academy will decide on a game-by-game basis on where the Flames will play their home games.
