Lady Jackets winless at tournament

ROUND ROCK — The Llano High School volleyball team went 0-7 at the Showcase Tournament hosted by Round Rock Westwood on Aug. 11 and 13.
The Lady Jackets (1-9) are on a nine-game losing streak.
They were swept by Elgin, San Antonio Johnson, Dripping Springs, El Paso Coronado and Sharyland and were able to win a set off of Temple and Waco Midway.
Head coach Shawn Sweeten-Meredith said she saw a lot of good things from her squad.
First, the Lady Jackets learned they must approach each match mentally ready to play.
Second, they were able to play in some long rallies, which is what Sweeten-Meredith believes will benefit them come District 25-3A play.
The approach to defense also was evident as Llano was forced to dig some hard-hit balls and operate an offense.
By the time they ended the tournament against Temple, Llano put all the elements together, Sweeten-Meredith said. They lost 12-25, 25-23, 23-25.
“This final match would have been great to win,” she said. “However, Temple brought it to match point. We went down fighting. I was pleased. Great ending to a great tournament. This was a very challenging tournament, and it felt so good to end competing strongly and competing together. “
