William Russel “Bill” Gilmore, 74, died Aug. 13, 2011. He was born in Lampasas on June 3, 1937, to Temple and Hazel Martin Gilmore.

He was baptize at First Baptist Church of Burnet by Michael Cox.

He married Carolyn “Katy” Garner on Dec. 22, 1961.

He retired from Sprint Telephone Co. after 31 years. He was an avid horseman and rancher.  He was a member of Naruna Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife Katy of Burnet; sons Clay and wife Rhonda of Burnet and Glen and wife Holly; daughter Vicki Cox and husband Joey of Wyoming; grandchildren William Blayne Gilmore, Brooklynn Gilmore, William Cole Gilmore and Makenna Gilmore; two sisters Jane Alderson and husband Tim and Shirley Campbell and husband Jim; sisters-in-law Margaret Gilmore of Henderson, Nev., and Henryetta Kidd of Fort Worth; and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents Russ and Fannie Gilmore and William and Elizabeth Martin; and brother Gordon Ray Gilmore.

A service was Aug. 16 at First Baptist Church of Burnet with the Rev. Marcus Foster officiating.

Pallbearers include Mark Russell, David Russell, Matt Shorb, Taylor Shorb, Seth Shelburn and Cory McAnelly. Honorary pallbearers include James L. Luther, John Stephens, Josh Stephens, Larry Wilson, Neil Shelburn, Joey Cox and Abe Carothers.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Scottish Rite Children’s Hospital, 2222 Wilborn St., Dallas, TX 75219.
