Clithel Van Plevan
Clithel Van Plevan, 92, died Aug. 14, 2011, surrounded by his family. He was born in Burnet County on Feb. 16, 1919, to Emil Felix Plevan and Sallie Etta Kirk.
He spent the majority of his career as a meat cutter in Burnet at Kings Royal Meats, and when it was sold to Hill Country Meats, he stayed on. He loved his work, but mainly enjoyed visiting with all of his customers, catching up on their lives. In his later years, he worked as custodian at First Baptist Church of Burnet, where he had served as a deacon since March 1949. Church was extremely important to him. He was proud of his country and served in the military. Most of his service time was spent in Germany.
His children fondly remember that every Sept. 15 was a holiday for him, and he took off work. It was the day he married the love of his life and the woman he spent 63 years with before her death in 2005.
