Henry Flowers McEntyre
Henry Flowers McEntyre, 85, of Meadowlakes died Aug. 2, 2011. He was born in Sweetwater on Sept. 1, 1925, to Henry K. and Connie McEntyre.
In 1936, his family moved to Odessa, where he graduated from Odessa High School in 1944, having participated in many sports including football and track. He then joined the Navy and served in the Pacific during World War II.
Later, he attended John Tarleton College and then returned to Odessa to join the family business. He married Daphine Stevenson in Odessa, and together they raised two daughters and operated McEntyre Brothers Inc. until they sold the business, retired and moved to Meadowlakes.
He enjoyed playing golf and organizing golf events and trips with his many friends. He served as one of the first Meadowlakes City Council members and also was a past president of the Meadowlakes Mens’ Golf Association. He attended First United Methodist Church of Marble Falls.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years; daughters Connie Nichols of Odessa and Susan McEntyre of Cumming, Ga.; granddaughter Elise Nichols of Dallas; and niece Debbie Lucas of Edmonton, Okla.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Mary Lou Rumbaugh Kerrigan.
The family is grateful for the care he received during his last days at Granite Mesa Health Care.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Helping Center of Marble Falls.
A service is 2 p.m. Aug. 4 at Clements-Wilcox Funeral Home, 1805 U.S. 281 North in Marble Falls, (830) 693-4373. Charlie Cummings will officiate.
