MARBLE FALLS — After chasing it for several years, Marble Falls resident J.C. Roy reached a monumental mark July 17 during the Texas Firefighter Olympics in Round Rock.

“I had a very good outing,” the retired Oak Hill firefighter said. “I’ve wanted to get this for a long time.”

Roy, a competitive powerlifter, squatted 650 pounds, setting a meet record. He added a 380-pound bench and 530-pound dead lift to capture the gold medal in his heavyweight division.
