Jack Carr, 78, died July 1, 2011. He was born Nov. 6, 1932, in Girard to parents R.Z. Carr and Elsie (Gilmore) Carr.

He was the heart of his family and a great man who put them first. He served in the Army and was a veteran of the Korean conflict. He was a small business owner and entrepreneur.  He loved spending time with his family, old cars and traveling.

Survivors include children Janey Leigh and husband Richard of Crowell, Mark Carr and wife Belinda of Sunrise Beach, Cherie Pina and husband Gabe of Kempner, David Carr and wife Jamie of Las Vegas, and Shane Carr of Burnet;  14 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; brother Roy Carr of Arcadia, Mo.;  and sister Syble Anderson of Twenty-Nine Palms, Calif.

He was preceded in death his parents and sister Joey Spain of Lubbock.

A visitation is 6-8 p.m. July 6 at Clements-Wilcox Funeral Home, 306 Texas 29 East in Burnet, (512) 756-2222.

The funeral is 10 a.m. July 7 at Main Street Baptist Church in Burnet with the Rev. Jerry White officiating.

Interment with military honors will follow at the Bear Creek Cemetery in Bertram.
