Carol Wheeler
Carol Wheeler, 88, died July 2, 2011, with her family at her side.
She was born Oct. 25, 1922, to Walter and Rose Sloan in Sioux City, Iowa, the youngest of three children.
She married Bud Wheeler in Phoenix on Aug. 28, 1947. They moved to Pasadena in 1955 where they raised two boys. The couple retired to Burnet in 1986. She was an active member of Burnet Presbyterian Church and volunteered for 15 years with Seton Highland Lakes Hospice. Their staff provided outstanding care and comfort in her last days.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by sons Carl and wife Joyce, and Lee; grandchildren Jason Wheeler and wife Melissa, Tommy Wheeler and wife Nicole, and Emily Wheeler; grandchildren Chris Wheeler and wife Joanie, Lindsey Wheeler and Jeff Wheeler; great-grandchildren Mari, Freddy, Octavian, Ryan, Matthew and Benjamin.
She was preceded in death by daughter-in-law Cindy Wheeler; brother Gray Sloan; and sister Ruth Mortenson.
A memorial service is 11 a.m. July 6 at Burnet Presbyterian Church, 101 S. Pierce St. in Burnet.
