Michael Warner, 63, died June 24, 2011, in Burnet with his wife at his side after losing his battle with cancer.

He was born in Liberal, Kan., on July 6, 1947. He graduated from Oklahoma State University in August 1969 and went on to become a certified public accountant.

After moving to Houston to work for a large accounting firm, he decided to open his own practice.

His family lived in Houston for nearly 30 years before relocating in 1998 to Burnet, where he opened his CPA firm, Michael Warner and Associates.

During his 13 years in Burnet, he served his community as a long-time member of the Kiwanis Club, past president of the Burnet County Republican Club, treasurer of the Burnet County Republican Party and treasurer of Highland Lakes Health Fund. He also supported the annual Burnet Bluebonnet Festival by providing communications services and was an avid ham-radio operator and member of the Highland Lakes Amateur Radio Club.

He was diagnosed with lung cancer in 2008.

In addition to his wife Patricia Warner, survivors include daughters Christine Townsend and Stephanie Bostick; son-in-law Roland Bostick; and grandchildren Nicholas Townsend, Garrett Townsend, Dara Townsend, Gabrielle Townsend, Merrin Lamb and Ryan Bostick; and sister Janice Boland.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Dean and Elaine Warner.

A visitation is 6-8 p.m. June 27 at Clements-Wilcox Funeral Home, 306 Texas 29 East in Burnet, (512) 756-2222.

A service is 10 a.m. June 28 at the First United Methodist Church, 909 N. Vanderveer St. in Burnet, with a graveside service immediately following at Lakeland Hills Memorial Park.
