Bertram officer arrests former police chief

BERTRAM —The former Bertram police chief found himself on the wrong side of the law June 20 after he was arrested on a charge of tampering with evidence, officials said.

“Last week he presented an insurance card to the Bertram Municipal Court that appeared to be altered,” said current Chief Ron Hall.

Hall said an officer initially issued a traffic citation to Caudle’s son in April. When the elder Caudle, 55, brought a copy of his son’s insurance card to the court, Hall said there were some concerns about the document

“The investigation revealed that the card had been tampered with to change the effective dates,” Hall said.
