Phyllis Jean Innes
Phyllis Jean Innes, 81, died June 15, 2011. She was born in Des Moines, Iowa, on Jan. 3, 1930, to Kearney and Eleanor Wade.
She married Alexander Frederick Innes on March 27, 1951. She was a devoted wife and mother and always enjoyed having her family around.
She loved to read and was an expert at crossword puzzles. She had a great passion for painting, was an excellent seamstress and did beautiful embroidery needlework. She enjoyed social events of all kinds and especially loved the many hours she spent playing bridge with her close friends.
Her husband’s job as a geologist for Cities Service Oil Co. took them to many places, including Lovington, N.M.; twice to Midland; Bogota, Colombia; Amarillo; and Bartlesville, Okla.
After they retired, the couple traveled extensively for two years across the United States and then built a beautiful cabin in the Sangre de Cristo Mountain Range in Southern Colorado, where they spent their summers. In 1991, Horseshoe Bay became their primary home until they moved to Round Rock in April.
She was quite gregarious and was loved by all who knew her. She will be sorely missed by family and friends.
Survivors include her husband of 60 years; daughter Diane Innes Gorin and husband Jim; daughters Karen Montes and husband Irie and Alexis Adams and husband Craig; grandchildren Wade and Livia Gorin, Aaron Montes and wife Emily, Susan Miles and husband Brandon, and Hannah, Alex and Connor Adams; great-grandchildren Matthew, Maisy, Aidan, Nathan and Benjamin; and sister Betty Liljedahl.
A service is 1:30 p.m. June 20 at The Church at Horseshoe Bay, 600 Hi Ridge in Horseshoe Bay. After the service, family and friends are invited to Fellowship Hall at the church. Her ashes will be entombed at the Eileen Hurd Mausoleum in Horseshoe Bay.
