David Carroll Gilpin

David Carroll Gilpin, 52, of Granite Shoals died June 8, 2011, at Seton Medical Center in Austin. He was born in Houston on March 18, 1959, to Densel Gilpin and Marilyn Stromire.

Known to many as “Super Dave,” he served on the Granite Shoals Chamber of Commerce and Granite Shoals Parks Committee for the parks department.

He volunteered numerous hours and was a real blessing to the community of Granite Shoals, friends and well-wishers said.

Survivors include his companion Sadie Williams.

A service was June 11 at Blair-Stubbs Funeral Home, 605 S. McKinney in Mexia, (254) 562-2131, with the Rev. Michael Vestal officiating.

Interment followed at New Hope Cemetery in Farrar.

A remembrance service is 11 a.m. June 16 at the First Baptist Church of Granite Shoals, 505 Phillips Ranch Road in Granite Shoals, with a lunch after the ceremony.
