Betty Jo Parsons, 84, of Llano died June 9, 2011. She was born in Granite, Okla., on Sept. 26, 1926, to Joe and Phyllis Denton.

She was married to A.C. "Rooster" Parsons for 60 years. She graduated from nursing school in Amarillo and started the first Special Opportunity Center in Odessa in the late 1950s. She was on the board for the Special Opportunity Center in Llano for more than 20 years. She also belonged to sororities in Kingsland and Odessa and was a member of the American League Auxiliary.

She adored her family and enjoyed life to the fullest until her death. 
Survivors include her son Gary Parsons; daughter Mickey Adcock; son-in-law Donnie Adcock; brother Bud Denton and wife Liz; sisters Shirley Nixon, Karen Parnell and Sandy Travis; grandchildren Melissa Adcock, Cheyann Pye and Richard Adcock and wife Carrol; six great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by her husband.

A service was June 13 at Waldrope-Hatfield-Hawthorne Funeral Chapel, 307 E. Sandstone in Llano, with the Rev. Jerald Moore officiating. Pallbearers were Colton Pye, Justin Adcock, Will Adcock, Chris Parsons, Duane Boudreau, Ricky Morgan and Randy Morgan. Burial followed at Bluffton Cemetery in Bluffton.
