Kim B. Newton, 50, of Sheridan, Ark., and formerly of Burnet, died May 31, 2011, in Little Rock. She was born in Arlington on Sept. 27, 1960, to Ray Thompson and Myrna Houy.

She spent her adult life in Texas, Illinois, Georgia and Arkansas but always called Burnet home. She most of all enjoyed being a mother and a wife.

She was employed by the federal government at the Pine Bluff Arsenal as a payroll administrator.

She had a sense of humor and a way of telling stories, usually at her own or her family’s expense, that made her famous among her friends.

Survivors include her husband, whom she had known since the age of 6, Charles Newton; sons Tyler, Hunter and Tanner, all of Sheridan, Ark.; mother Myrna Houy of Sheridan, Ark.; father-in-law and mother-in-law Jerry and Gladys Newton of Burnet; brother Brian Thompson and wife Nancy of Burnet; sister Cindy Kneen and husband Mark of Garden City, Idaho; sisters Lisa Thompson of Burnet, and Shannon Escamilla and husband Robert of Leander; sisters-in-law Gayle Robinson and husband Jim of Hot Springs Village, Ark., Jayne Moore and husband Jim of Burnet and Paula East and husband Mike of Liberty Hill; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father; maternal grandparents Melvin and Lois Kincheloe; paternal grandparents Ray and Myrtle Thompson; brother-in-law Herbert Newton; and nephew Kurt Milliorn.

A service is 11 a.m. June 3 at Edgar Funeral Home, 109 N. Main St. in Burnet, (512) 756-4444. A graveside service will follow at Shady Grove Cemetery in Burnet.

Pallbearers are Chase Holloway, Drew Escamilla, Matthew Escamilla, Jason Trlica, Jarod Trlica and Brandon Leath.
