MARBLE FALLS — Two coaches have agreed to become part of the Marble Falls Independent School District athletic department while five others have said good-bye.

They are Chris Delmas and Adam Goodman.

The new hires were already working in the school district, athletic director Cord Woerner said.

“They are not new to the district but new to our coaching staff,” he said. “They are people who are good coaches and have been wanting to get into coaching. This is the first opportunity to be able to do that.”

Middle school coaches Aaryn Dockery and Kristin Obermeyer and high school coaches Colter Williams, Lesa Eddleton and Jackie Morgan have resigned.

“We’re not replacing any teaching positions at this point,” Woerner said. “We had to shuffle around and adjust everything in house.”

The athletic director said losing more coaches than the district can hire is part of the challenge facing most school districts in the state.

“It is what it is,” he said.

Head coaches Julie Downs of volleyball, Stephanie Gamble of girls basketball, Bruce Etheridge of boys basketball and Woerner, who also serves as the football coach, are known for going to the middle school to work with those athletes during the school year.

Woerner believes the coaches will continue to do so as time allows.

“We’re still trying to spend as much time as possible with our middle school coaches,” he said.

The district is searching for an assistant tennis coach.
