HORSESHOE BAY — A workshop to learn the latest legal aspects for interviewing and interrogating suspects brought together a veritable who’s who of area law enforcement officials May 10.
The presenter was attorney Wiley B. “Sonny” McAfee of Randolph McAfee Inc., a private consulting firm that does training for law enforcement and prosecutors across the country.
“There are so many changes that take place in the courts, and if you’re not aware of those, you might have a misstep somewhere,” said Burnet County Sheriff W.T. Smith, who attended the workshop.
Horseshoe Bay Police Chief Bill Lane, whose department hosted the eight-hour seminar at the Horseshoe Bay Resort Marriott hotel, said the kind of training offered at the conference is invaluable for law enforcement.
“Training is the key to our professionalism,” Lane said.
