Mustang soccer teams honored for 2011 season
MARBLE FALLS — Players and coaches on the Marble Falls High School soccer teams were honored for their 2011 seasons during an awards ceremony May 4 at the campus auditorium.
“Really, the one thing we want to get across is that we want to honor you athletes for your hard work and pretty exciting games,” Master of Ceremonies and athletic director Cord Woerner said.
The three boys soccer squads all had winning seasons with a combined record of 39-7-5.
“It’s the second largest athletic program on campus behind the other football,” boys head coach Michael Nave said. “We’re very proud of (the record).”
The varsity squad was 17-2-3 and won the Mustang Winter Classic and the Stephenville Tournament. The Mustangs scored 72 goals, while giving up 24, and recorded eight shutouts. They were 8-0-2 at home and had a 13-game winning streak.
