MARBLE FALLS — J.D. Engler struggled with defining his 11 years as the president of the Marble Falls Youth Baseball and Softball Association. It’s a good thing several board members can do it for him.

“Really and truly for J.D., it’s all about creating an opportunity for the youth of this city,” said association Senior Vice President Andy Hoffmans, a board member for five years. “That’s what drives him – all the kids in the community have an opportunity to play softball or baseball.”

Others associated with the league echo Hoffmans’ sentiments.

“That’s been his biggest goal,” said Erik Smith, another board member. “Where anything is decided, it’s always been what’s best for the kids. He wants to make sure everyone who wants to play can.”

After some reflection, Engler himself drew the same conclusion.
