Grady Abner West Sr.
Grady Abner West Sr., 103, died March 3, 2011, in Fort Worth. He was born in Harwood on June 5, 1907, to William Wallace and Mattie (McDermia) West.
He married Barbara West on Nov. 26, 1938, in Laredo. He worked in the grocery business for 45 years and the oil field for 15 years.
He was a member of First Baptist Church of Kingsland and served as chairman of the Building Committee when the new church was built. He also was a member of the Masonic Lodge for 61 years.
Survivors include his daughters Susie Edwards and husband Mark of Brentwood, Tenn., and Brownie Lynn Curry and husband Gene of Brownwood; sons Abner West Jr. and wife Karen of Fort Worth and Randolph West of San Juan Capistrano, Calif.; grandchildren Grady Abner West III, Amy McConnell, Jason West, Reagan West, Kamy West, Weslee Hill, Nathan Edwards and Christy Barnum; and 14 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife Barbara in 1997; his parents; and numerous sisters and brothers.
A graveside service was March 7 at Lakeland Hills Memorial Park in Burnet County with the Rev. Dwight Reagan officiating. Serving as pallbearers were his grandchildren.
