Lady Eagles soccer squad accepts invitation to national tourney

MARBLE FALLS — The Lady Eagles soccer team, consisting of players 11 years old and younger, has accepted an invitation to compete in a national tournament sponsored by the United States Specialty Sports Association at Overland Park Soccer Complex in Kansas.

The tournament will be conducted July 22-24, coach Bob Fallis said.

“We’ve been invited to play because we did well last season,” he said. “(Overland Park) is probably the best soccer complex in the U.S.”

Consisting of 12 full-size soccer fields, the NCAA conducts its national tournament there, he said.

“It has artificial turf and lighted fields,” the coach said. “It’s going to be quite an experience.”

The tournament will draw teams of all ages from across the nation, Fallis said.

The Lady Eagles will conduct numerous fundraisers through the spring to help offset costs.
