Ruby Speck Davis, 96, of Burnet died Feb. 1, 2011, in Burnet. She was born near the Lone Grove community in Llano County on Sept. 5, 1914, to Walter Leonard “Hode” Speck and Temperance Annie Templeton Speck. 

She attended school in Lone Grove and married William K. “Dub” Davis Jr. on Aug. 22, 1932.  

During the Depression and war years, they lived in Texas and Arkansas while he worked on bridge construction and other jobs to support the family. After living in Austin and Pasadena, they returned to Llano County in 1959. They enjoyed their years in Llano, where they were surrounded by family and longtime friends. 

In 1970, they retired to Silver Creek on Lake Buchanan. 

After her husband died, she moved to Burnet and lived at the Rhomberg Apartments. Because of declining health, she moved to the Oaks Nursing Center in 2007. 

She was a faithful member of the Vanderveer Street Church of Christ in Burnet.

Survivors include her son Jerry Davis and wife Peggy of Marble Falls; daughter Paula Bundrant and husband Pete of Burnet; grandchildren Jerry Brian Davis and wife Eileen of Star, Idaho, Pamela Davis Wear and husband Craig of Montgomery and Susan Barton Sims and husband Bob of Odessa; great-grandchildren Alyson Davis, Kris Davis, Mason Wear, Dawson Wear, Nicole Sims and Scott Sims and wife Casey.

She was preceded in death by her husband; daughter Rebecca Davis Barton Vermillion; brothers Hubert and Woodrow; and sisters Polly and Thelma.

A service is 1 p.m. Feb. 4 at the Church of Christ, 102 S. Vanderveer St. in Burnet.

The family thanks the staff of Oaks Nursing Center, especially those working on East Hall.
