Dayton Alarick Houy, 85, of Marble Falls died Jan. 26, 2011. He was born Sept. 4, 1925, in Mason County, the son of Alarick Houy and Ella Bode.

A World War II veteran, he spent his working life in the granite business, and dedicated the last 30-plus years operating Bluebonnet Memorials in Marble Falls with his eldest son.

His gnarled hands were a testimony of his love for his family and his life as a stonecutter.

Survivors include sons Dayton and wife Merlene Houy, and Tommy and Kay Houy, all of Marble Falls, and Daniel Lee Houy of Texas; daughter Linda and husband Guy Yun of Granite Shoals; granddaughters Kim and husband Rick Edwards of Marble Falls and Michele and husband Ben Frank of Burnet; grandsons Michael and wife Stacy Houy of Marble Falls, Dayton Lee Houy of Fort Dodge, Iowa, and Christopher Yun of Granite Shoals; great-grandchildren Collin and Jared Edwards, Haley and Natalie Frank, and Andrew Houy.

He was preceded in death by his parents and five siblings.

A visitation is 6-8 p.m. Jan. 27 at Clements-Wilcox Funeral Home, 1805 U.S. 281 North in Marble Falls, (830) 693-4373.

A memorial service is 11 a.m. Jan. 28 at the Fellowship Baptist Church in Marble Falls with the reverends Matt Homeyer and Max Copeland officiating.

Because he had a strong love for children, the family has asked that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in his memory to the Boys & Girls Club of the Highland Lakes, Marble Falls unit, 1701 Broadway in Marble Falls.
