John Edward O’Malley
John Edward O’Malley, 74, of Burnet died Jan. 22, 2011. He was born to William Joseph and Bernice Mary Ellen Lyon O’Malley on Nov. 23, 1936, in Winchendon, Mass.
He served in the Army and married Janice Elizabeth Stringer Aug. 23, 1958, in San Antonio. He retired from the Dresser Corp. after many years of service as a data processor. He attended Catholic churches in Burnet and Kingsland and was a basketball, football and soccer coach for many years for his children and grandchildren in Houston and Marble Falls.
He also was a third-degree Knight of Columbus.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Janice O’Malley of Burnet; children Patrick J. O’Malley of Colorado, Michael A. O’Malley of California, Timothy F. O’Malley of North Carolina and Colleen Kelly O’Malley Lynch of Burnet; son-in-law and caregiver Thomas Lynch of Burnet; grandchildren Collin, Kathrine, Caroline, Stephanie, Stacey, Sean, Samantha, Megan Kelly, Shaylynn and Hailey O’Malley, John Jaymz Melton, Brittany and Akasha Lynch; five great-grandsons; brothers Tommy and Jim O’Malley; and sisters Mary Dumount, Helen Cain, Alice McGovern, Barbara Maillet and Ruth VanZandt.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother William O’Malley Jr.; and son-in-law Brock Phillips.

A service is 2 p.m. Jan. 27 with Deacon Ron Wood, Knights of Columbus and the Highland Lakes Honor Guard.
