Emerson Everett Cook

Emerson Everett Cook, 87, of Marble Falls, died Jan. 1, 2011, while a patient at Seton Highland Lakes Hospital in Burnet. He was born to Clarence Marion Cook and Elizabeth Jordan Cook of Columbus, Ind., on Oct. 28, 1923.
After growing up on a farm in Columbus, he served in the Navy during World War II.
He was married to Lenora May Belle Desadier Cook for 60 years. He met her while attending Rice University in Houston, where he graduated with a mechanical engineering degree.
He first worked at Hughes Tools in Houston and then for Texas City Refinery in Texas City.
While working at TCR, he obtained a masters degree from the University of Houston.
He accepted a job with Aramco, the Arabian American Oil Co., arriving in Abqaiq, Saudi Arabia, in January 1958.
After 18 years with Aramco, he moved on to more jobs in Libya, Venezuela, Port Arthur and Marble Falls.
His last day of work was his 80th birthday. After that, he and his wife enjoyed 4 1/2 years in their retirement home overlooking Marble Falls.
He was a member of the Church at Horseshoe Bay, a faithful Christian and a Sunday School teacher for many years. While in Abqaiq, he helped develop and ran the Sunday school. He also headed up the camera club and a record club.
He and his wife enjoyed square dancing and he taught some of the classes.
He enjoyed working with wood and built many things, including designing and constructing an orphanage in the Dominican Republic.
Survivors include his daughter Sheila Cook Frasier; grandson Michael Sean Frasier; grandchildren Kaitlyn, Mackenzie, Kallie and Keegan; sisters Bernice and Pauline; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife; son Phillip Wayne Cook; parents; and siblings Harry, Glen, Aaron, Liza, Belva, Olive and Ivan.
