Wendell T. Akers

Wendell T. Akers, 84, died Jan. 2, 2011. He was born Oct. 26, 1926, in O’Donnell, the son of Theodore Thaddeus Akers and Mittie Pelts Akers.
He married June Elliott Akers June 12, 1948, in Clovis, N.M.
They moved to Buchanan Dam in 1987.
He was self-employed most of his life after serving in the Navy. He will be missed but kept in the hearts of all who loved him.
He was known to his family and close friends as Papa.
Survivors include his wife June Akers; sons Daryl and wife Anita Akers, and Jake Akers; daughters Starla and husband Benny Peiper and Cindy and husband Mike Nagle; grandchildren Kim Akers, Stacie and husband Jon Willard, Amanda and husband Clint Wright, Tyler Slocum, Tiffany Slocum and Kaylee Nagle; great-grandchildren Ashlyn, Megan, Brooke, Tyler, Haley, Cody, Zachary, Casey, Makayla and Shyla; brother Carlyle Akers of Zenia, Ohio; and beloved dog and companion Maggy Su.
He was preceded in death by sisters Aurora Moss and Thaddeus Simpkins; and brothers Cornelius Akers and Dwight Akers.
Visitation is 6-8 p.m. Jan. 4 at the Clements-Wilcox Funeral Home, 306 Texas 29 East in Burnet, (512) 756-2222.
A funeral service is 10 a.m. Jan. 5 at the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow at Lakeland Hills Memorial Park.
Pallbearers include Rick and Darren Richards, John Willard, Clint Wright, Mike Nagle and Johnny Reyna.
