Laurine Everett, 87, of Burnet died Dec. 27, 2010. She was born Jan. 19, 1923, in San Saba to Loy Agnew Schneider and Vada B. (Harkey) Schneider.

She took classes at Dickson Business School in Austin and worked as a secretary and bookkeeper before marrying Jim Everett April 15, 1945.

She later worked as a secretary for Brown & Root. She traveled the world with her husband as he worked for Brown & Root on various projects.

He retired after 27 years and they returned to the Hill Country where they were both born and raised. They lived for many years in Council Creek area of Lake Buchanan.

She had a green thumb and liked to work in the yard, especially with flowers.  She was a member of the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) of Burnet.

In addition to her husband, survivors include son Jimmy and daughter-in-law Mona Everett of Katy; and sisters Patsy Shahan of San Saba and Wanda Ray of Austin.

A memorial service was Dec. 30 at the Clements-Wilcox Funeral Home, 306 Texas 29 East in Burnet, (512) 756-2222, with the Rev. Dawn Rosignol officiating.
