Ruby Jon Jones, 86, of Meadowlakes died Nov. 27, 2010. She was born May 1, 1924, in Bowie to Samuel J. Ward and Bertha Emma Staats Ward.

She was a long-time member of the First United Methodist Church of Marble Falls.

Before she became ill, she was an active member of the Highland Lakes Service League, Granite Hills Luncheon Club, an investment club in Meadowlakes and the Highland Lakes Exxon Annuitants Club.

She was a member of the Sew and Chat Club and displayed her creativity and skill through her sewing talents.

Dancing was her passion, especially square dancing.

She and husband Valton E. “Doc” Jones were members of the Sashay and Whirl Square Dance Club in Kingsville and competed across the United States with the group.

After moving to the Highland Lakes, they were associated with the Country Cuzzins Square Dance Club in Kingsland.

She also was an avid traveler and enjoyed sharing her knowledge of the countries she visited.

Survivors include her son Jeffrey E. Jones and wife Sharifah of Doha, Qatar; granddaughters Sarah and Farah of Doha, Qatar; sisters-in-law; a brother-in-law; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 38 years and her brother Samuel Odean Ward.

A funeral service is 11 a.m. Dec. 3 in the Clements-Wilcox Funeral Home chapel, 1805 U.S. 281 North in Marble Falls, (830) 693-4373, with the Rev. Dr. Ralph D. Mann officiating.

Interment is 11 a.m. Dec. 4 at the Elmwood Cemetery in Bowie.
