Wanda Myrle Laura Coffman, 73, died Nov. 27, 2010. She was born Nov. 16, 1937, in Cherokee to Marion Wyatt and Myrtle Mary Coffman.

When she was 4, she moved with her parents to San Angelo where she attended school in the Lakeview school district from first through 12th grades. She then moved to Midland where she was a secretary for the Western Co. and attended Odessa Junior College for two years.

She returned to San Angelo where she married Orvil L. Perry in 1957. They lived in San Angelo for the next several years where she became the mother of two daughters and two sons, and she worked as a secretary for The United Way.

Later, her husband’s job in law enforcement took them to Del Rio in 1964 where she worked as a bank secretary. They transferred to Ozona in 1967 and she worked as a legal secretary for the County Attorney’s Office. Her husband’s job once again called for a transfer to Calexico, Calif.

They then move to Carrizo Springs in 1974 where she taught school as a substitute teacher and then became a legal secretary for a law firm. She taught Sunday School to several different age groups at First Baptist Church of Carrizo Springs. After moving back to Texas, she became a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and The Daughters of the Republic of Texas.

The couple retired in 1993 and then in 1994 moved to New Braunfels where she continued with the DAR and served two years as the Regent of the Captain James Jack Chapter. She also served in the DRT as an officer in the Austin’s Ranging Company Chapter.

She also led several ladies Bible study groups. She and her husband became members of the Marion Country Church in April 2009 after being members of the First Baptist Church of New Braunfels for several years and serving on committees there.

In addition to her husband, survivors include children and their spouses Karen and Jack Neely, Lesley and Mary Jane Perry, Travis and Jan Perry and Debra and Dwayne Rhoades; grandchildren Ryan Perry, Brett Perry and fiance Jessica, Lee Ann and Adam Broeker, John Neely, Nathan Perry, Jacob Perry Chase and Lara Barina, Travis and Sierra Barina.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother Kenda H. Coffman; and grandchild Laura Beth Neely.

A memorial service is 2 p.m. Dec. 4 at The Country Church in Marion.

She will be buried in Cherokee in the family cemetery.
