Alberta Juanita Pope, 83, of Kingsland died Oct. 15, 2010. She was born April 16, 1927, in Muskogee, Okla., the only child of Lionel Lavern and Artie Reba (Webster) Lollar.

She married Richard Pope Aug. 11, 1980, in Colorado. She was a member of Hoover’s Valley Baptist Church.

Her life was to work at the church on Saturday and attend services Sunday. At the church, she would volunteer in the nursery and work with the youth.

She loved to work in her flower garden, quilt, crochet, sew and most of all bake. Of all her hobbies, she took being a wife, mother, grandmother and friend as the most serious. Her guidance helped steer many young people back in the right direction.  She was loved and will be missed by many.

Survivors include her husband of 30 years, Richard Pope of Kingsland; sons James Newton Orr Jr. and wife Martie of Oklahoma City, Okla., Raymond Lee Orr and wife Kathy of Denver, and Richard Orr and wife Dora of Floresville; seven grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.

A funeral service was Oct. 22 at Hoover’s Valley Baptist Church. Interment followed at Central Texas Veterans Cemetery in Killeen.
