Olga Garcia Villarreal, 74, died Oct. 17, 2010. She was born Sept. 30, 1936 to Horacio and Aurora Garcia.

She grew up in San Diego, Texas, where she graduated from San Diego High School.

Her working tenure began in the Duval County Courthouse at 17 where she gained experience working with elected officials such as George Parr.

She later married Alonzo P. Villarreal and moved to Alice.  There she was employed by Jim Wells County where she occupied a number of positions in the courthouse before she was elected to district clerk of the 79th Judicial District.

She fostered her love of politics and became a sought-after campaign manager for elected officials in local, state and national government.

Her experience working in the courthouse proved to be very helpful to attorneys and residents who wanted to gain insight into various aspects of local government procedures and laws.

Her conviction and honesty were well respected by many influential residents.

Above all, she was a loving and caring soul. Putting her family and friends before herself, she unselfishly gave of her time, prayers and love. She enjoyed keeping in contact with her brothers and sisters and their children.

She always made sure she prayed  for those in need and checked on everyone in the family to ensure all was well. She made time for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and enjoyed every moment she spent caring for her family.

She has left us all with a fond, lasting impression of the great woman she was and how fortunate we were to experience her love and prayers. She will be greatly missed.
