Thomas E. ‘Tom’ Shadel
Thomas E. “Tom” Shadel, 63, of Burnet died Oct. 12, 2010. He was born Dec. 8, 1946, in Shelby, Ohio, to Richard and Nettie (Lee) Shadel.
He was raised in Shelby and then joined the Army at 17. On March 22, 1971, he married Irene E. Dilly, whom he met while stationed in Germany.
They later moved to Ohio, and then to Texas where they adopted and raised Kenneth Shadel and Charlotte Shadel.
He worked for the Burnet Consolidated Independent School District for almost 21 years, then retired in March 2010.
In addition to his wife, survivors include his mother Nettie Shadel of Shelby; his son of Marble Falls; his daughter Charlotte Gomer of Bertram; and grandchildren Timothy Michael Gomer and Tristan Thomas Gomer.
He was preceded in death by his father Richard T. Shadel and brother Richard E. Shadel.
Visitation was Oct. 14 at the Clements-Wilcox Funeral Home, 306 Texas 29 in Burnet, (512) 756-2222.
A funeral is 2 p.m. Oct. 15 at the funeral home with Rodney McGee officiating. Interment follows at the Burnet City Cemetery.
Pallbearers include Kenneth Shadel, Rudy Esparza, Garyel Gomer, Marvin Light, Curtis Chelette and Jim Thomas.
