James Edward “Jim” May died on his 71st birthday Sept. 24, 2010, after a long battle with cancer. He was born Sept. 24, 1939, in San Antonio to Monroe S. and Esther Lee “Mickey” May.

He loved coaching youth sports programs. He was a devoted husband, a proud and loving father, a doting grandfather and a genuine friend.

His all-time favorite movie was “It’s a Wonderful Life.”

He was especially fond of the part where the angel-in-training Clarence said, “Remember George, no man is a failure who has friends — and, thanks for the wings.”

His attributed his success in life to his friends. He lived well, loved much and laughed often. His contagious sense of humor will be missed by all who knew him and loved him.
