Claire Ellen Ramsey, 65, of Tow died Aug. 22, 2010, at Seton Hospital in Round Rock after a long battle with lung cancer.

She was born Dec. 28, 1944, in Roseburg, Ore., to Ralph Carnes and Helen (Sinsley) Carnes.

She married Bill Ramsey Dec. 12, 1987, in Anchorage, Alaska. She has lived in Tow since 1988, moving from Big Lake, Alaska.

She was a member of the Tow Baptist Church. She enjoyed quilting and caring for her home. She loved horses. She was retired from the Anchorage Telephone Utility and recently worked at the Tow Post Office where she was able to see her friends and neighbors.

In addition to her husband of Tow, survivors include sons Don and wife Jan Thompson of Anchorage, Alaska, and Will and wife Kelley Ramsey of Llano; daughter Julie Thompson of Forest Grove, Ore.; brother Bill Carnes of Prescott Valley, Ariz.; sister Kathy Carter of Sierra Vista, Ariz.; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

A visitation was Aug. 24 at the Waldrope-Hatfield-Hawthorne Funeral Home, 307 E. Sandstone in Llano, (325) 247-4300.

A funeral service is 10 a.m. Aug. 25 at Tow Baptist Church with the Rev. Jerald Moore officiating. Burial will follow at Tow Cemetery.

Pallbearers include Ricky Morgan, Randy Morgan, Lance Garrett, Herman Honig, Kenny Smarr and Frank Wootan.

Honorary pallbearers include Nathan Garrett, Kenneth Smarr, Doyce Newton, Bobby Ray, Bob Mathews and Marvin Gray.
