Richard E. “Dick” O’Donnell, 79, died Aug. 15, 2010, at his home in Dripping Springs. He was born Oct. 12, 1930, in the Fairland community of Burnet County to Tom O’Donnell and Lucile (Guthrie) O’Donnell.

He loved Burnet very much and was in the Navy for four years. He also enjoyed ranching and being with his grandchildren. In 1998 he moved to Dripping Springs to be closer to them.

He was employed for many years with the highway department and later retired from the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department.

Survivors include his wife Frances O’Donnell of Dripping Springs; daughters and sons-in-law Cathy and Carl Peck of San Antonio and Leigh and Albert Chiuminetta of Dripping Springs; brother Guthrie O’Donnell of  Marble Falls; sisters Doris Ann Fariss of Burnet and Eleanor Leifeste of Robert Lee; grandchildren Brandon and Blake Chiuminetta; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Tom Jr., Patrick and Mike.

A graveside service is 10 a.m. Aug. 17 at the Post Mountain Cemetery in Burnet with the Rev. Darrell Debo officiating.
