Frances Gene Brooks McDonald, 82, died Aug. 15 at her home in Temple. She was born July 25, 1928, in Sonora to Preston Brooks and Cora Slaughter Brooks.

She graduated from Burnet High School and later moved to Austin with her spouse to raise their family. She was a retired secretary from the Austin State Hospital and Ridgetop Baptist Church.

She later moved to Temple and lived there the last 15 years.

Survivors include her husband of 60 years, Eugene H. McDonald; children, Vicki Cox and husband Joey, Rudy McDonald and wife Cricket, Richard McDonald and wife Sally, Wanda Wolsch and husband James, Cory Wayne McDonald and wife Ana, Eileen Newstrom and husband Carl, and Caleen Shafer and husband Bill; 17 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.

A visitation is 6-8 p.m. Aug. 17 at Edgar Funeral Home, 109 N. Main St. in Burnet, (512) 756-4444.

A service is 10 a.m. Aug. 18 at the funeral home and burial follows at the Burnet Cemetery in Burnet.

Pallbearers include James McDonald, Richard McDonald, John Wolsch, Dewayne Arons, Cody Shafer and Russell Cox.
