Wilma G. Horne, 87, of Llano died Aug. 7, 2010. She was born Sept. 7, 1922, in Llano to Nora Ethel (Myers) and Ernest Duncan.

She married James Doyle "J.D." Horne Jan. 25, 1947, in Fredericksburg. She was a homemaker and a seamstress, and she loved and cared for homeless animals of all kinds.

She worked for the Llano Special Opportunities School, Acme Dry Goods and the Llano County Museum and was a member of the Llano First Christian Church.

Survivors include daughter Linda Peterson and husband Dennis of Fayetteville, Ark.; son James Horne of Cathedral City, Calif.; brother Lee Duncan and wife Virginia of Llano; sisters Leta Lawrence of Llano and Ruthe Duncan of Houston; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in 1970; brothers Joe, Francis and Eb Duncan; and sisters Loma Roberts and Myra Fryer.

A visitation is 2 p.m. Aug. 10 at Waldrope-Hatfield–Hawthorne Funeral Home, 307 E. Sandstone St. in Llano, (325) 247-4300.

A funeral is 2 p.m. Aug. 11 at the Llano First Christian Church with the Rev. Jim McCurdy officiating. Burial will follow at the Llano City Cemetery.

Pallbearers include Tommy Duncan, Steve Lawrence, Walter Roberts, Jimmy Decker, Jimmy Roberts and Travis Duncan.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Lori Baker Children Trust Fund at the Llano National Bank, 1001 Ford St., Llano, TX 78643 or to the Llano First Christian Church  at 1105 Oatman St., Llano, TX 78643.
