Carl Hubert ‘Buck’ Holbrook
Carl Hubert "Buck" Holbrook, 73, died Aug. 7, 2010, at the home he shared with Lou Hardin between Burnet and Bertram.
He was the youngest child of Alva Pierce Holbrook and Lillian Marie (Whitehead) Holbrook and was born Oct. 10, 1936, at Fairland.
He grew up in Burnet County and attended school in Bertram. He served four years in the Army. On Aug. 8, 1960, he married Carlee Johns.
They raised six sons at their home in Liberty Hill. He worked as a union carpenter in the Austin area until his retirement.
He was a baptized Christian and it was his faith that comforted him throughout his long illness.
Survivors include sons Carl Dean Holbrook of Indiana, Harvey Lee Holbrook of Austin, James Patrick Holbrook of Burnet, Bradley Allen Holbrook of Kingsland, and Leslie Brant “Butch” Holbrook of Dale; grandchildren Nina, Denver, Chelsea, Heather, Caleb and Katie; great-grandchildren Lillian Marie Dardini, Cade Dardini, Lily Ann Olson and Precious Destiny Roman; brother James Holbrook and wife Elaine of Burnet; sister Virginia Fry and husband Ed of Austin; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his son Ronald Gene Holbrook.
Graveside services and military honors are 10 a.m. Aug. 11 at the Shady Grove Cemetery near Burnet with the Highland Lakes Honor Guard presiding.
