Walter Sherman Bauer Jr.
Walter Sherman Bauer Jr., 74, died July 19, 2010. He was born Sept. 26, 1935.
He graduated from Llano High School and played football for Texas Christian University.
He then joined the Coast Guard and after that he went to barber school. He was a barber for 45 years. His hobbies included hunting and fishing on the Llano River.
Those who knew him will miss his jokes, his laughter and his warm smile. He was loved and will be missed by all, especially his family.
Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Vera Pauline Bauer; daughters Terry Bauer Joy and husband Garry Joy, Sherlene Bauer Gillette and husband Michael Gillette, and Traci Mitchell and husband Frank Mitchell; grandchildren Lisa Gillette, Clay Joy, Amber Joy and Meleah Mitchell; sisters Mary Jane Smith, Lillian Draper and Dorothy Schuessler; and brother Winfred Bauer.
He was preceded in death by his parents Walter Sherman Bauer Sr. and Mary Elizabeth Bauer; and brother Weldon Bauer.
A visitation is 1-3 p.m. July 22 at the Austin-Peel and Son Funeral Home, 607 E. Anderson Lane, Austin.
A funeral service will follow at 3 p.m. at Austin-Peel.
