Vola Dell Delz

Vola Dell Delz, 77, died July 18, 2010. She was born in Harper May 20, 1933, to Claud and Nettie (Thuem) Sageser.
She was baptized in the Devils River when she was about 8 or 9 years old. She has been a member of the Elysian Fields Methodist Church in New Orleans for 53 years.
During school she was involved in all sorts of activities; she played basketball, she was the pitcher for the softball team, she was a cheerleader. She graduated from Harper High School and then, with the financial help of her grandmother Annie E. Sageser, she attended business school.
She worked all of her life. She began employment in a drug store in Harper when she was 16. She met Bill Delz in Fredericksburg and they married June 3, 1961, in Harper. She was a bookkeeper for a restaurant and for a candy maker; she worked as a keypunch operator for WKM, U.S. Homes and Val Camp; and both husband and wife worked for Texaco in New Orleans.
In addition to her husband of Burnet, survivors include son Gary Delz and wife Sherrie of Georgetown; daughter Debbie Newman and husband Michael of Katy; sisters Billie Gale Cash of Columbus and Lora Walker of Harper; grandchildren Kelly, Bert, Cory, Julie and Adam; and five great-grandchildren.
Visitation is 1 p.m. July 21 at the Waldrope-Hatfield-Hawthorne Funeral Home chapel, 307 E. Sandstone in Llano, (325) 247-4300.
A funeral service follows at 1:30 p.m. with the Rev. Frank Gipson officiating. Burial will be at Eckert Cemetery in Eckert.
Pallbearers are Cory Delz, Burt Gentles, Michael Newman, John Rex, Luke Cash and Bubba Cash.
