Cleta Mae "Skeeter" Fox, 84, of Horseshoe Bay died May 18, 2010. She was born to Carl and Russell Alice Jan. 12, 1926, in Paducah, the second of the "four Russell girls."

Her elementary-school classmate in Meadow, James B. Fox, became her sweetheart in high school; they married July 1, 1944.

The couple lived in Horseshoe Bay for 24 years and had a vacation home in Alto, N.M. for 15 years. They have been active members of the Church at Horseshoe Bay and Race Track Chapel in Ruidoso, N.M.

They enjoyed golfing. She won the Senior Champion Golf Tournament in 1991 and was president of the Women’s Golf Association in Horseshoe Bay. Bridge was another game they enjoyed.

She loved people and her magnetic personality drew friends into her loving and caring world, relatives said.

In addition to her husband, survivors include son Larry Mason Fox and wife Ann of Austin; grandchildren James David Fox at Manhattanville College in New York, Kristi Kim Fox of Austin and step-grandson Zach Braz of Connecticut; sisters Barbara Lloyd of Austin and Carlene Jordan of Alto, N.M.; nine nieces and nephews; 17 great-nieces and nephews; and nine great-great-nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by son James Carl Fox; and sister Wanda Holmes in 2008.

A visitation is 5-7 p.m. May 20 at Clements-Wilcox Funeral Home, 1805 U.S. 281 North in Marble Falls, (830) 693-4373.

A funeral service is 10 a.m. May 21 at the Church at Horseshoe Bay with Johnny White officiating.

A graveside service is 2 p.m. May 22 at Resthaven Memorial Park in Lubbock with Darrell Winter and Mokey McCrary officiating.
