Benito Lopez

Benito Lopez, 82, of Llano and formerly of Losbanos, Calif., died April 2, 2010. He was born March 21, 1928, in Castell to Cornelio Lopez and Rosa (Gonzales) Lopez.
He served in the Air Force and later retired from Ford Motor Co. in San Jose, Calif., as an assembly welder. He was a Catholic and a member of the American Legion.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Antonia Lopez in 1998; three sisters; and three brothers.
Survivors include his son Richard Lopez of Losbanos, daughter Marty Quinones of San Jose; stepdaughter Rosie Carrejo of San Jose; sisters Joyce Banks of San Antonio and Lupe Stinespring of Llano; brothers John Lopez and Eugene Lopez, both of San Angelo; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
A rosary was recited April 4 at the Waldrope-Hatfield-Hawthorne Funeral Chapel, 307 E. Sandstone in Llano, (325) 247-4300.
A funeral service was held April 5 at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Llano, with the Rev. Gabriel Uzondu officiating. A military graveside service followed at Llano City Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Phillip Gonzales, Paul Gonzales, Raymond Gonzales, Mike Gonzales, Walter Banks and Jeff Banks.
