Lady Pups fall to the Lady Texans

WIMBERLEY — The Burnet Middle School eighth-grade A girls basketball team lost to Wimberley, 28-21, Dec. 4.

“It was a hard-fought contest, but we had trouble getting the ball in the basket,” coach Keri Waide said. “Although we did a better job of helping on defense, we still gave up too many easy layups. We also struggled at the line hitting just one of 10 free throws.”

Catherine Hirneisen and Ashley Brown led the way with six points each. Sydney Olson dropped in four, while Mariah Qualls and Deniese Hawkins had two points, and Nika Grady scored one.

“I was proud of the girls’ efforts,” Waide said. “We are starting to do more things right and I know that will pay off for us in the long run.”

The Lady Pups will travel to Ingram Thursday for their next contest.
