Ponies continue winning streak

 

LAKE TRAVIS — The Marble Falls Middle School seventh-grade A football team remained undefeated in district play after posting a 25-6 victory over Lake Travis Oct. 6.

 The Ponies held the Cavaliers on their first series, then drove the ball down to the six-yard line and running back Austin Fryar took it in for the touchdown. The extra-point pass failed, though Marble Falls led, 6-0.

The Cavs drove the distance to lock the game at 6-6.

Garrett Gray took the kickoff and bolted 65 yards to put the Ponies up, 12-6. Quarterback Aidin Parnell ran in the extra point to give the Ponies a 13-6 half-time lead.

In the second half, the Lake Travis offense converted on several fourth downs but never made it to the end zone.

In the third quarter, Pony fullback Carson Bowen scored on a 30-yard touchdown run. The extra-point attempt failed though the Ponies led, 19-6.

The final score came in the fourth quarter when Parnell snuck it in on a three-yard touchdown run.

 Outstanding defensive players included linebackers Gray, with 10 tackles and several sacks, Tyler Lindholm, Josh Warren and Cody Skipper, defensive linemen Alberto Barrios and Israel Guzman as well as defensive backs Cody Seelig, Austin Bird and Stephen Petroski

 Outstanding offensive players were Carson with 65 yards rushing, quarterback Parnell with 95 rushing yards, running backs Fryar and Devon Tharp, offensive linemen Josh Tovar, Justin DeSpain, Josh Robles and Bailey Jackson and receivers Ben Mezger, Zac Atchison and Parker Heath.

 The Ponies’ next game is at home Monday against Lampasas.
