COTTONWOOD SHORES — The City Council saw some new faces and one departure — the city secretary — during the regular meeting this past week, the first after the May 12 elections.
Three uncontested council members were sworn in May 17 and a new city secretary was hired, the latest in a wave of comings and goings at City Hall.
COTTONWOOD SHORES — A new ordinance giving city officials more authority to inspect restaurants has left some eatery representatives with a bad taste in their mouths.
The City Council passed the measure May 3 during a regular meeting. Afterwards, many restaurant employees left feeling angry, saying they already answer to state guidelines.
COTTONWOOD SHORES — The city is looking at purchasing two lots to help expand the Police Department.
"Our Police Department does need some refurbishing, so we're exploring all options," Councilman Stephen Sherry said April 19.
MARBLE FALLS — When family members arrived at the City of Marble Falls cemetery Easter Sunday to place flowers at grave sites, they were overwhelmed by high weeds and overgrown conditions.
"It shouldn't get like this," said Dennis Heffington.e and his wife Rhonda Heffington went to the cemetery the morning of April 8 to place flowers at her parents' burial site.
COTTONWOOD SHORES — A familiar face is back with an official role in the city’s government.
The City Council April 5 voted to name Janet Taylor acting city administrator. She had been serving in that role the previous two weeks.
