MARBLE FALLS — After three weeks, the Marble Falls High School football team’s record is the same as last season, 2-1. But last year’s fourth game was truly legendary. The Mustangs won a 62-55 shootout against Boerne Champion behind 724 passing yards by former quarterback Mike Richardson. That total set a state record for the most yards in a single game, which ranks second nationally.

On Sept. 20, the Chargers (2-0) make the trek to Marble Falls for a 7:30 p.m. kickoff at Mustang Stadium, 2101 Mustang Drive.

Like Marble Falls, Champion has a new quarterback, Alex Flores. He has completed 31 passes for 344 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions. Flores also has 42 rushes for 279 yards and three touchdowns, while running back Travis Posposil has 34 carries for 252 yards and three touchdowns. Receiver Dillon Manz has 12 receptions for 128 yards.

Mustangs quarterback Brennen Wooten, a sophomore, has completed 81 passes for 967 yards with 11 touchdowns and two interceptions. Senior receiver Garrett Gray has 22 catches for 358 yards and eight touchdowns, while senior receiver J.T. Watson has 23 receptions for 230 yards and two touchdowns for Marble Falls.

Mustangs senior running back Keith Jerome has 50 rushes for 322 yards and eight touchdowns. Marble Falls is on a two-game winning streak with the latest victory against Burnet 56-51 on Sept. 13.
