Though the Oct. 16 flood occurred more almost two months ago, the recovery is still ongoing. The Episcopal Diocese of Texas donated a number of gift cards to assist people with their needs. The cards are available starting Dec. 10 at the Community Resource Center, 1016 Broadway in Marble Falls, from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday-Friday. Before a flood victim can pick up a card, though, they must be registered with the Highland Lakes Crisis Network. File photo

Austin Disaster Relief Network founder and Executive Director Daniel Geraci recently visited with members of area churches at Lake Shores Church in Marble Falls as they help with flood recovery. Between 25 and 30 local congregations are creating Highland Lakes Crisis Network to provide immediate and long-term assistance during disasters, whether one like the recent flood or a house fire. New Highland Lakes Crisis Network training ‘shepherds’ to walk alongside disaster victims

EDITOR DANIEL CLIFTON In September, a few Highland Lakes clergy attended an Austin Disaster Relief Network workshop to learn how to create a similar network among area churches. The Rev.
