Applications for the Pedernales Electric Cooperative’s annual scholarships are due by March 20. The 25-year-old program provides $100,000 total in support for local students planning to attend a college, university, or technical/trade school.

The program is funded by unclaimed property returned to PEC by the state of Texas.

“Awarding scholarships to these deserving students is an investment in the future of our cooperative and our communities,” PEC Community Relations Manager Celeste Mikeska said in a media release. “We are proud to play a small part in their educational journeys — we know they’ll go on to do great things.”

Eligible recipients are seniors graduating from public, private, or home schools. The student’s parent or legal guardian must be a PEC member in good standing.

PEC will also award one scholarship to an adult seeking to further their education. The recipient must be a PEC member or reside in a household served by PEC with an account in good standing.

Award announcements are set for April.

Visit the PEC website for more information on how to apply.
